Hans-juergen-Bahner

Refugees Welcome Organization gUG (limited liability)

As a refugee and integration worker, I have a deep passion for social justice and intercultural communication. With my experience working with people from different cultures and backgrounds, I have learned to understand and respond to the unique challenges and needs of refugees. My aim is to build a bridge between the refugees and the local community to promote understanding, respect and successful integration. Through personal commitment, empathy and intercultural educational work, I strive to improve the quality of life of refugees and at the same time emphasize the enrichment of society through diversity. My approach is based on respect, patience and a firm belief in the strength of community and dialog.

For a better future

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to leave your home, your family and everything you know behind to flee war and persecution? This is exactly what is happening to millions of people worldwide. At Refugees Welcome, we are committed to giving these people a new home and a better future.

Why we need your help

Imagine arriving in a foreign country without speaking the language, without any idea of the bureaucratic hurdles and without a proper roof over your head. This is where we come in, and where you can make a difference! We offer support in many areas: from housing placement and language courses to integration into the labor market. But we can’t do it without the help of dedicated volunteers like you.

How you can help

There are many ways in which you can get involved. Do you have a few hours a week? Then support us with our projects on site! Help refugees to learn German, accompany them to the authorities or organize leisure activities to make their arrival easier. Donations in kind such as clothing or furniture are also a great help.

Why your commitment counts

Your commitment can make a lasting difference to the lives of refugees. You can help people who have lost everything to regain hope and feel welcome in our society. Every contribution, no matter how small, is valuable and shows that you put your heart and soul into it.

Make the difference

At Refugees Welcome, we firmly believe that integration works on both sides. Through your personal commitment, you not only get to know new cultures, but also build bridges and contribute to open and tolerant coexistence. Become part of our community and experience how enriching it can be to help other people.

Come, join in and set an example of solidarity and humanity. Together we can achieve a lot!

Questions and answers

The time required for volunteer work varies depending on the type of task and your availability. In general, you should be prepared to invest a few hours a week on a regular basis. It is important that you commit to constant support in order to ensure stable support for the refugees.

The tasks are just as varied as the refugees’ needs. From language lessons and help with finding accommodation to everyday support and leisure activities, everything is included. Together we will find the job that best suits your skills and interests.

After a short introduction and training, you will be assigned to a refugee whom you will look after intensively. This can include regular meetings, assistance with visits to the authorities, help with finding accommodation, language lessons and support in everyday life. You support the refugee as a person of trust and help them to integrate into society.

You are expected to be reliable and put your heart and soul into your work. You should be open and tolerant, have a certain degree of empathy and be prepared to take on responsibility. Regular participation and a willingness to empathize with the refugees’ needs are essential.

No special previous knowledge is required. An open heart, patience and a willingness to learn are important. You can further expand your knowledge and skills through our further training courses, such as the refugee and integration assistant course.

Volunteering not only enriches the lives of refugees, but also your own. You gain valuable experience, develop new skills and expand your social skills. After successfully supporting three refugees, Refugees Welcome also offers you the opportunity to complete a free course of study to become a refugee and integration assistant at the ILS.

We will not leave you alone! Refugees Welcome offers regular training, workshops and supervision to support you in your work. You also have access to a network of experienced helpers and experts who can help you with questions and problems.

Many of our volunteers are working or studying. The flexibility of the activities makes it possible to adapt the commitment to your individual schedule. We will discuss together how you can best integrate your commitment into your everyday life so that you do not have to neglect your professional or personal obligations.

If you find that you no longer like your job or that it no longer suits your circumstances, please contact us. We will find a solution together, be it by adapting the task or changing the area of application.
